An excellent and very unusual object, being Strauss´ own original cigarette case. A 4 x 5 leather cigarette case, bearing to one side the composer´s embossed signature `Johann Strauss´, and to the inside a mounted 3.5 x 2 card with a three lines inscription to Victor, in German, and signed `Johann´. Most probably inscribed to Victor Leon (1858-1940), his librettist for the operetta Wiener Blut (''Viennese Blood'') named after his best known waltz. Strauss did not live to witness its premiere. In very fine condition, with the clasp working. VG £2000-3000
