The future Pope sends a friendly letter to the Prior of Cingoli, the small town where Pius VIII was born. Cardinal Castiglioni states in part ` Ammiro il suo coraggio cristiano ad onta dell´inevitabile tenerezza naturale. Sul comando di farle l´iserizione, le dico chiaramente che non sono piu bono, e che la fatica triplicaba dacchi sono in Cesena, e la visita attuale me ne toglie il tempo, e quiete. Oltra a cio adesso e insorto lo spirito di una critica severissima sulle iscrizioni...´ (Translation: ” I admire your Christian courage despite the inevitable natural tenderness.
