BRENNAN WALTER: (1894-1974) American actor, the first Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actor in 1936 for his role as Swan Bostrom in Come and Get It, winning the award on a further two occasions, in 1938 for his role as Peter Goodwin in Kentucky and again in 1940 for his role as Judge Roy Bean in The Westerner. Signed and inscribed 7.5 x 9.5 photograph of Brennan in a head and shoulders pose. Signed in bold black ink to a lighter area at the base of the image. Together with two vintage signed photographs (5 x 7 and 8 x 10) by two other Academy Award nominees for Best Supporting Actor in 1936 comprising Mischa Auer (for his performance as Carlo in My Man Godfrey) and Stuart Erwin (for his performance as Amos Dodd in Pigskin Parade). Both are signed in blue fountain pen inks to light areas of the backgrounds and one is inscribed. G to VG, 3
