ELISABETH OF WIED: (1843-1916) Queen of Romania 1881-1914, the consort of King Carol I. A.Q.S., Carmen Sylve (the name under which she published various poems, plays and novels etc.), to an 8vo page removed from an autograph album, Cotroceni [Palace], 18th January 1883, in French. The Queen has penned a four line quotation, ´L´amour - c´est la lutte, L´amitie - c´est le repos´ (Translation: ´Love - is struggle, Friendship - is rest´).
