GOUNOD CHARLES: (1818-1893) French Composer. A.L.S., ` Ch. Gounod´, one page, 12mo, Paris, Wednesday 6th January 1886, to Monsieur Rousse, in French. Gounod sends the present telegramme to his correspondent, a member of the Academy, stating `Comment, cher ami! Tu plaides pour moi contre Weldon! et c´est le Figaro qui me l´apprend! Qu´est-ce que cela? et s´il y a un mot de vérité dans cette affaire, indique-moi, je te pries, une heure de rendez-vous...´ (Translation: "What, dear friend! You plead in my favour against Weldon! and I learn this on Le Figaro! What is this? and if there is a word of truth in this affair, tell me, I pray you, a time for an appointment...")
