PENNEY WILLIAM: (1909-1991) English mathematician who was head of the British delegation working on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos Laboratory during World War II, and also had a leading role in the development of High Explosive Research, Britain´s clandestine nuclear programme that began in 1942 and which produced the first British atomic bomb in 1952. A good vintage signed 4.5 x 6 photograph of Penney seated in a three-quarter length pose at his desk, with a pen in one hand as he signs the letter before him. Signed by Penney with his name alone in blue fountain pen ink to a light area at the head of the image. About EX
