TIBBETS PAUL: (1915-2007) American Brigadier General in the United States Air Force, pilot of the Enola Gay, the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb, Hiroshima, 6 th August 1945. Small selection of signed photographs (2) and a signed commemorative cover by Tibbets, comprising an unusual 9.5 x 7.5 photograph depicting actor Robert Taylor, in costume as Tibbets, standing alongside various other actors in front of the Enola Gay in a scene from the American World War II film Above and Beyond (1952), signed by Tibbets in blue ink to a light area at the head of the image and dated 4th June 1990 in his hand, a signed colour 11 x 8 photograph by Tibbets, the image depicting the Enola Gay on a runway at North Field on Tinian, signed by the pilot to a light area of the image, ´Paul Tibbets, Pilot, to Hiroshima, Japan, 6 Aug- 1945´, and a signed commemorative cover featuring a colour image of a Boeing B-29, signed by Tibbets in blue ink with his name alone to a clear area.
