LEIGH VIVIEN: (1913-1967) English actress, Academy Award winner. A.L.S., Vivien Leigh, one page, 8vo, Newcastle-on-Tyne, n.d. (1965?), to Lynn [Hope], on the printed stationery of the Royal Station Hotel. Leigh states, in full, ´I do hope you will soon be feeling much better. We miss you very much. All my good wishes´. Lynn Hope was the head costume mistress at the Aldwych Theatre in London and also performed the same duties on the tours of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1955 onwards.
The present letter most likely dates from 1965 when Leigh performed the role of Contessa Sanziani in a stage production of La Contessa which toured Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester.
