LEIGH VIVIEN (1913-1967) English actress, Academy Award winner. A good vintage signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph, the exquisite image depicting Leigh in a head and shoulders pose with one hand gently raised to her neck. Photograph by Angus McBean (although uncredited). Signed by Leigh in dark fountain pen ink to the lower white border, ´For Lynn, with my love & thanks, Vivien Leigh´, and dated 1959 in her hand. Together with Laurence Olivier (1907-1989) English actor, Academy Award winner. Husband of Vivien Leigh from 1940-60. Vintage signed and inscribed 4.5 x 6.5 photograph of Olivier in a close-up head and shoulders profile pose resting his chin on one hand. Signed in blue fountain pen ink to the lower border, ´For Lynn - Every good wish & grateful remembrance, L.O.´. Also including an A.L.S. by Olivier, with his initials LO, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d., to Lynn [Hope]. The actor writes, in full, ´Miss. Leigh & I hope that you will accept the enclosed from us in much appreciation of so much that you have done for us this year. With all our good wishes and affectionate gratitude´. A couple of minor stains and some light traces of former mounting to the versos of both photographs, and the letter with some staining and traces of former mounting to the verso. G to about VG, 3

Lynn Hope was the head costume mistress at the Aldwych Theatre in London and also performed the same duties on the tours of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1955 onwards.
