ZINNEMANN FRED: (1907-1997) Austrian-American film director, Academy Award winner. A good signed and inscribed 10 x 8 photograph of the director standing in a full length pose in a river, evidently on location during the filming of the American Holocaust drama Julia (1977). Signed by Zinnemann in blue ink to a light area at the base of the image and dated April 1980 in his hand, further adding a holograph sentiment 'A director's life is not an easy one'. EX
Julia (1977) starred Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave, Jason Robards, Maximilian Schell and, in her film debut, Meryl Streep. Zinnemann was nominated for a Best Director Academy Award for Julia and the film gained Oscars for Jason Robards (Best Actor in a Supporting Role) and Vanessa Redgrave (Best Actress in a Supporting Role).
