GIDE ANDRE: (1869-1951) French author, Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1947. A.L.S., `André Gide´, one page, small 4to, Paris, 18th May 1937, on his personal printed stationery at 1º rue Vaneau - Invalides, in French. Gide explains to his correspondent what he intends to do with his poem, stating ` Cher Monsieur, Je porterai, cet après-midi, votre long poème à la N.R.F. Très particulier (ceci dit dans le meilleur sens du mot) et digne, me semble t-il de retenir l´attenttion de Jean Panthon et des lecteurs, comme il a retenu la mienne´ (Translation: " Dear Sir, I will take this afternoon your long poem to the N.F.R. Very sepecial one (I say so in the best meaning of the word) and worth of attracting the attention of Jean Panthon and the one of the readers, in the same way mine woke up their interest") Small overall minor creasing, otherwise G to VG
