A.L.S., Darius Milhaud , two pages, 8vo, Mills College, Oakland, California, 30th March 1940, to Miss. Cowan. Milhaud informs his correspondent that Mrs. Standish, President of the Salon Francais of Los Angeles, had asked him to write as ´she would like to have me for a lecture´ , and continuing to ask Cowan if she would be interested in a lecture recital, remarking ´You could choose one of these subjects - A) 1. Debussy (lecture) 2. Works of Darius Milhaud (piano), B) The spirit of French poetry in the contemporary French vocal music (lecture Poems recited by Madeleine Milhaud), C) 1. Erik Satie (lecture) 2. Piano works of Erik Satie. D) My theatrical works (1913-1924) E) My theatrical works (1924-1940)´ . The composer concludes by suggesting that Cowan could telephone Mrs. Standish about the project. VG
