Hérodiade is an opera in four acts by Jules Massenet, based on the novella Hérodias (1877) by Gustave Flaubert. It was first performed at the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels in December 1881. Lucienne Breval (1869-1935) Swiss Soprano. A favourite of Massenet. She performed most of her career at the Parisian Opera Nationale. Best remembered for her role as Chimene in Massenet´s Le Cid. Breval premiered Massenet´s opera Griselidis (1901) at the Opera Comique in Paris.
