PARKS ROSA: (1913-2005) - PARKS ROSA: (1913-2005) American activist in the civil rights movement, remembered for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott. Parks is considered an icon of resistance to racial segregation, and is also known as the Mother of the Freedom Movement. Parks was arrested for civil disobedience violating segregation laws when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger.
