PERON ISABEL MARTINEZ DE: (1931- ) Maria Estela Martinez Cartas. President of Argentina 1974-76. She was the first woman to have held the title of President of any republic in the American continent. Third wife of President Juan Peron. During her husband´s third term as President 1973-74 she served as vice-President and First Lady. In 1976 her presidency ended with a military coup, Isabel was placed under house arrest for five years and later went in exile to Spain. Signed and inscribed 8.5 x 10.5 photograph by Isabel Peron, the attractive image showing President Juan Peron smiling in a half length pose. Signed and inscribed in bold blue ink by Isabel Peron, as President, `M. E. de Peron´, and dated in her hand to the white lower border in Buenos Aires, 11th of September 1974, only two months after her husband´s death. VG £80-100
