AUGEREAU CHARLES PIERRE FRANÇOIS: (1757-1816) Marshal of France, Duc de Castiglione. L.S., Augereau, one page, 4to, Paris, 12th November 1802, to the Minister of Interior Chaptal, in French. Augereau, in his capacity as Chief General of the army of Batavia recommends the appointment of officer Louis Guizet to the ''Weights and Measures'' department. With blank integral leaf. Remnants of former affixing to the verso. Folded. G £150-200 Jean Antoine Chaptal (1756-1832) French Chemist, Physician and Statesman. The Chaptalization in the art of wine-making is due to him. He was appointed by Napoleon Minister of Interior 1801-04.
