PALOMBINI GIUSEPPE FEDERICO: (1774-1850) Italian General who served under Napoleon and commanded the Napoleone Dragoons of the Cisalpine republic. At the end of the Napoleonic Italian Republic, Palombini joined the Austrian army becoming field Marshal. A very interesting L.S., Palombini, two pages, folio, Otanes, 5th May 1813, to General Foy, in French. Palombini explains his decision to help Foy before returning to Italy, and states `..After having longly thought on the circumstances of the besiege of Castro-[Urdiales] and all the other military actions wisely leaded by you in the Biscaye province
´ further suggesting his participation in the provisioning of his correspondent´s troops, in protecting the city of Bilbao and the surrounding roads. Small overall, minor age wear, creasing and edges very slightly trimmed, otherwise G £100-150
