BLUMENTRITT GUNTHER: (1892-1967) German Officer during Worl War I and further Nazi General during WWII. Blumentritt played a main role on the planning of the invasion of Poland in 1939, and a year later on the invasion of France. He also participated in Operation Barbarossa and planning the defense of Normandy. A lengthy and good A.L.S., `Blumentritt´, two pages, folio, on two slim sheets of paper, Marburg, 4th May 1950, to Felix Steiner, in German. Blumentritt states in part `..our friends from the West can obviously read my letters, these ones too...´ further saying `I am a soldier, I learned that very well since 1911, although now I try to watch things happening with some distance.. Today, Western Europe has only two powerful countries in the continent, the French Nation with great power and the German country without sovereignty.. What Monsieur Francois Poncet wishes we all wish so too since long ago, during wars..´ A letter of very interesting content. Folded. G £150-200
