Barrie states `In answer to your cable I enclose a message for the performance on the 20th. It would be better understood by audience if read at end of play than earlier.´ further referring to the invitation received from his correspondent `Please let me take this opportunity of thanking you heartily for your invitation to America. I should very much have liked to be able to accept it but had to decline because some matters tie me down here. I think a true friendship between America and this country would be the finest thing that could happen in the world.´ With two ink reception stamps from University of Columbia and from Carnegie Endowment for International Peace to the upper left corner.
