HAUTECLOCQUE XAVIER DE: (1897-1935) French Writer and Journalist. Assassinated by the Nazis for his writings denouncing the national-socialism nature. A good A.L.S., Xavier de Hauteclocque, three pages, 4to, Somme, n.d. [1935], to Henri Beraud, in French. Hauteclocque thanks his correspondent for the `Red cobblestones´, stating in part `..Your articles about Gringoire were like mace shots thumped against the Parliament canailles..´ The present letter was written only few months before Hauteclocque was assassinated. Together with an original printed clipped article published when Hauteclocque passed away. VG £100-150 Henri Beraud (1885-1958) French Novelist. Sentenced to death for collaboration with Nazis in 1945. The sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment.
