SALGARI EMILIO: (1862-1911) Italian Writer of adventure swashbucklers. A pioneer of science fiction, he is considered the father of Italian adventure fiction. His work was widely read in Italy and his most popular novels have been adapted as comics, animated series and films. Rare D.S., Emilio Salgari, one page, folio, Genoa, 4th May 1901, in Italian. The cleanly hand-written letter being a contract between Antonio Donath, editor, and Emilio Salgari, the last granting the exclusivity for the publication in Italy of his novel La Capitana del Yucatan, an adventure work set during time of war and revolution. The contract states `Signor Donath has pait to Signor Emilio Salgari the total amount of 666,70 lire..´ Signed by Salgari in blue fountain pen ink, and by Antonio Donath at the base of the document. Together with D.S., Antonio Donath, one page, folio, Genoa, 30th March 1908, being the official registration of the contract for La Capitana del Yucatan of Salgari to the Italian Ministry. With printed typed registration and ink stamp of the Genoa Prefecture. Also included D.S., two pages, 4to, Genoa, 2nd September 1908, being the Genoa Prefecture partially printed document for the La Capitana del Yucatan copyrights.
