BENEDICT XIV: (1675-1758) Pope of Roman Catholic Church 1740-58. Benedict XIV was a beloved Pope, a polymath, and one of the greatest Vatican scholars who laid the groundwork for the present Vatican museum. A good L.S., `Lambertini´, one page, 4to, Rome, 2nd October 1721, to Gertrude Paganelli, in Latin. Benedict XIV, acts in his capacity as Cardinal Lambertini, and as Secretary of the Council of Trent, and requests additional information to his correspondent. With blank address leaf, bearing a good paper seal affixed. The letter bears an attractive watermark. Small overall, minor age wear. VG £250-350
