The artist sends his correspondent 100 francs and explains 'Je suis passe rue Ventimille plusieurs tableaux sont revenus il est vrai mais pas celui en question' (Translation: 'I went to rue Ventimille and several paintings came back, but not the one in question'), further writing 'Hier a paru dans le Gaulois une lettre de vous, je suppose que vous devez avoir recu le numero.
