GOSFIELD MAURICE: (1913-1964) American actor, remembered for his portrayal of Private Duane Doberman in the American television sitcom The Phil Silvers Show (1954-59). An extremely rare vintage signed and inscribed 7 x 9 photograph of Gosfield in a head and shoulders pose in costume from his most famous role as Doberman, the doleful member of Master Sergeant Ernest Bilko's platoon. Signed by the actor in black fountain pen ink to a clear area of the background, 'To the Laceys, with my very very best good wishes. Maurice (Doberman) Gosfield'. Signed photographs of Gosfield are extremely rare in any form, in part as a result of his untimely death at the age of 51, and examples in costume from The Phil Silvers Show are highly desirable. VG
