ANOTHER MAN´S POISON
ANOTHER MAN´S POISON: A good, unusual vintage signed and inscribed 9.5 x 7.5 photograph by both Bette Davis (Janet Frobisher, a successful mystery novelist) and Gary Merrill (George Bates, Janet´s estranged husband with a criminal past) individually, the image depicting the actors standing together in half-length poses, Merrill with his arm around his wife´s shoulder, in costume from the British murder-mystery drama film Another Man´s Poison (1951). Photograph by Cyril Stanborough and bearing his credit stamp to the verso. Signed by both Davis and Merrill in white fountain pen ink to the base of the image, Davis adding an inscription in her hand. The signatures are a touch light in places although remain legible. Another Man´s Poison was the second film that Davis and Merrill (who were married for ten years between 1950 and 1960) made together, following the critically acclaimed All About Eve (1950).
