Walter Rothschild (1868-1937) 2nd Baron Rothschild. British banker, politician and zoologist. An active Zionist and close friend of Chaim Weizmann, Rothschild worked to formulate the draft declaration for a Jewish homeland in Palestine and received the Balfour Declaration in November 1917.
