PRUDHOMME SULLY: (1839-1907) French poet, the first winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, 1901. A.L.S., Sully Prudhomme, one page, 8vo, Paris, 22 nd October 1890, to ‘Mon cher petit’, in French. Prudhomme writes ‘J'ai n'avais pas a me repondre et ta lettre me touche d'autant plus’ (Translation: ‘I didn’t have to respond and your letter touches me all the more’), further adding that as his correspondent will be leaving soon he would like to see them whilst they are still in Paris, ‘J'irai demain jeudi dejeuner avec vous (a onze heures 1/2 je pense) et de la je me rendrai a l'academie’ (Translation: ‘I will go tomorrow, Thursday, to have lunch with you (at half past eleven I think) and from there I will go to the academy’).
