( 'Four o'clock' ), to Charles Auguste Defauconpret. Scott states that he will have great pleasure in receiving his correspondent and Madame Fauconpret for dinner at Abbotsford at 5.30pm, and further remarks 'My daughter who was indisposed at the time of my writing is now much better and will be happy to see Madame Fauconpret. We can give you a comfortable bed & beg you will make your arrangements accordingly' . In a postscript Scott also writes 'Do not take trouble in dressing' . Some very light, minor age wear and with a contemporary ink annotation to the head of the page, VG Charles Auguste Defauconpret (1797-1865) Son of French writer and translator Auguste-Jean-Baptiste Defauconpret (1767-1843) who translated the complete works of Walter Scott and James Fenimore Cooper.
