YUSUPOV FELIX: (1887-1967) Russian Aristocrat, also known as Prince Yusupov, Count Sumarokov-Elston. One of the wealthiest men in Imperial Russia in the early 20th century. Best known for his participation in the assassination of Grigori Rasputin in 1916. A rare D.S., signed twice ` Prince Youssoupoff´, the document being a signed cheque, Paris, 11 th December 1937. The partially printed cheque, completed by Yusupov, is drawn on the Banque E. Hoskiera & Cie, Parisian office, rue Mathurine, and is made payable to ` Monsieur G. Kammerer´ for the sum of ` Quarante huit mille cinq cent francs´ (“Forty-eight thousand five hundred francs”) Prince Yusupov having added `Huit´ (“ Eight”) inserting the word between the words “Forty” and “Thousand”, and in order to avoid problems with payment annotates and signs again at the heading of the cheque ` J´ai dit quarante huit mille cinq cent francs – Prince Youssoupoff´ (Translation: “ I have said forty-eight thousand five hundred francs – Prince Youssoupoff”) Bearing a red ink tax stamp to the verso.
