Kapodistrias explains that he is writing on the very last piece of good paper he has, remarking however, ‘je m'en sert avec plaisir pour vous presenter mes compliments et vous adresser mes prieres afin que vous ayez la complaisance de venir au secours de mon portefeuille en m'envoyant une petite provision de bon papier a lettres blanc et bleu’ (Translation: ‘I use it with pleasure to present my compliments to you and send you my prayers so that you will be kind enough to come to the aid of my wallet by sending me a small supply of good blue and white writing paper’).
