PETAIN PHILIPPE: (1856-1951) French General of World War I. A cleanly fountain pen ink written A.L.S., Ph. Petain, two pages, on his personal printed 5 x 4 card bearing his printed name to the heading, Paris, 6th December 1920, in French. Petain himself and on behalf of his wife, invites his correspondent to a performance at the Parisian Marigny theater, stating `J´ai une loge pour une representation de gala qui doit avoir lieu le 13 Décembre au Théatre Marigny, où on donnera la première d´Atlantide. Voulez-vous faire le plaisir à ma femme et à moi d´y venir? Deux places vous sont réservées…´ (Translation: “I have a lodge for a gala performance which will be held on 13th December at the Marigny theater where the premiere of the Atlantida. Would you kindly please my wife and myself and join us? Two seats are reserved for you…”) About VG
L´Atlantide (1919) was the second and best-known novel by Pierre Benoit (1886-1962), French Novelist and member of the French Academy. Translated into English as Atlantida, the play was filmed several times. The play was performed by M. Marcovici, mother of Lana Marconi (1917-1990), last spouse of Sacha Guitry and former mistress of Carol II of Romania
