PHILIPPE OF BELGIUM: (1837-1905) Count of Flanders. Belgian Prince, son of King Leopold I and brother of King Leopold II of Belgium. A.L.S., Philippe, Comte de Flandre, two pages, 8vo, Brussels, 28 th June 1878, to Madame la Duchesse, on attractive monogrammed stationery featuring a crown, in French. The Prince states that he returned to Brussels two days ago and remarks ‘je ne veux pas tarder plus longtemps a vous envoyer nos portraits que vous nous avez si gracieusement demandes’ (Translation: ‘I don’t want to delay any longer in sending you our portraits that you so graciously requested’; the photographs no longer present), further hoping that the Duchess will send a photograph of herself, and one of her husband, the Marshal, in return, adding ‘Nous nous rappelons toujours avec bien du plaisir toutes vos bontes pour nous pendant votre sejour a Paris. Ma femme me demande de vous faire ses affectueux compliments et je viens vous prier de vouloir faire les notres au Marechal’ (Translation: ‘We always remember with great pleasure all your kindness to us during our stay in Paris. My wife asks me to give you her affectionate compliments and I come to ask you to give ours to the Marshal’). With blank integral leaf. About EX
