WILKINS MAURICE: (1916-2004) New Zealand-born British biophysicist who shared the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1962 with James Watson and Francis Crick in recognition of their discovery of the structure of DNA. A good vintage signed 6 x 9 photograph showing Wilkins standing in a full-length pose at the feet of some aircraft steps, accompanied by his second wife, Patricia, and two young children, Sarah and George, whilst in Stockholm to accept the Nobel Prize. With various Swedish press credit stamps etc. to the verso. Signed by Wilkins in bold black ink with his name alone to the head of the image. The image of Wilkins’s eldest child has been neatly cut and applied using sellotape to the verso. Rare in this form. About VG
