QUERNER RUDOLF: (1893-1945) German General of the Waffen-SS during World War II who served as the Higher SS and Police Leader in Austria and Germany and was responsible for the evacuations and death marches from concentration camps at the end of the war. T.L.S., R. Querner, one page, 4to, Hamburg, 29 th July 1941, to SS-Gruppenfuhrer Schmitt, in German. Querner writes concerning the payment of an invoice for 634.85 Reichsmarks, remarking ‘I sent the individual invoices to the interior some time ago with a request to arrange payment. These are invoices for the production of uniforms. The Reichsfuhrer-SS [Heinrich Himmler] had paid me personally’. Two file holes to the left edge (filled to the verso), a few small, minor staple holes to the upper left corner and with a small tear to the right edge, none of which affect the text or signature.
