GAMBETTA LEON: (1838-1882) French Minister of interior and foreign affairs and President of the chamber of deputies. A good A.L.S., Leon Gambetta, one page, 8vo, n.p., 8th March 1882, on his personal printed stationery, to his `dear and very good friend«, the widow of his close friend Deputy Auguste Scheurer-Kestner, in French. The letter bears at the heading Gambetta«s printed monogramme with his initials, and is written the last year of his life. Gambetta explains that he has already accepted an invitation for Thursday 11th, but will do all the necessary to be free and able to join her and her dinner table, stating in part `..all my best wishes for the new star of your family firmament..« With blank integral leaf.
