PERCY PIERRE-FRANÇOIS: (1754-1825) French Doctor and Chief Surgeon of the Grande Arme during the Napoleonic wars. He invented a new kind of ambulance usable on battlefield. A good A.L.S., `Percy«, one page, folio, Paris, 1st December 1809, to Jean-Baptiste Vannot, in French. The manuscript letter by Percy bears to the heading a ''Marti et Arti'' attractive vignette, and the first printed sentence state ''The Surgeon, General Inspector of the French Army, consultant of His Imperial and Royal Majesties, Professor at the Paris Medecine School and Commandant of the Legion D«Honneur''. Percy writes a lengthy medical certificate in favour of the Squadron Chief of the 6th corps of the Army in Spain Vannot, stating in part `He suffered a nervous affection, among the most grievous ones, being the main symptom an extreme sharp pain to the head, convulsions to the right side of the face, similar to facial neuralgia..´ The letter page bears an attractive watermark.
