A very good autograph poem signed `Jean Cocteau«, one page, 4to, n.p., dated 1917 in his hand, in French. Cocteau, in his less than usual untidy writing, entitles his poem `Metamorphoses«, underlined, comprising fourteen verses, and stating in part `BeautŽ, capable, si votre jeunesse plonge - De s«Žlargir comme un objet de caoutchouc - Pour, assouplie aprs ce systme de songe - Apparaitre au soleil, intacte, tout a coup«, further saying `Souvent a ces miroirs dangereux se mŽlange - Votre monstre aux bras courts, aux grands pieds, au long cou - Se mŽlange t-il bien, il fait un nouvel ange - Qui cette fois s«Žtire on ne sait plus jusqu«ou«. Folded thin paper, with several areas of paper loss and a tear to the edges and two traces of former affixing to upper and lower right corners, none affecting the written test or signature.
