DEMY JACQUES: (1931-1990) French Director and Screenwriter. Best known for his two musicals The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) and The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967). Rare A.L.S., Jacques Demy, two pages, 4to, Paris, 30th May 1964, on his personal printed stationery, to Herv Lajat, in French. Demy responds to his correspondent«s letter and explains that he is about to leave Paris and won«t be back until October, and states in part `Send to me your scenario if you wish so and tell me in writing what else I can do for you..« Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Demy. Folded. VG £100-150 The present letter is dated shortly after Demy got the Palme d«Or award for The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964)
