RENAULT GILBERT: (1904-1984) Colonel Remy. French secret agent of World War II. A.L.S., Remy, two pages, 8vo, Damville, Eure, 22nd September 1949, to a friend (Christian Melchior-Bonnet), on the printed stationery of Le Moulin de Villez, in French. Remy informs his correspondent that he had seen the editor, Mr. Chavane, who kindly gave him an agreement for the possible publication in Les Oeuvres Libres of the pages which must be in his correspondent's possession, continuing 'Mon livre sontira aux environs du 15 decembre. Il serait donc necessaire que ces pages puissent paraite dans les O.L. de novembre. M. Chavane serait bien desireux d'etre autorise a faire encarter dans les O.L. un prospectus se rapportant au livre. J'attends de savoir si ce texte vous plait' (Translation: 'My book will be out around 15th December. It would therefore be necessary for these pages to be able to appear in the O.L. of November. Mr. Chavane would be very eager to be authorised to include in the O.L. a prospectus relating to the book. I'm waiting to know if you like this text'). About EX Christian Melchior-Bonnet (1904-1995) French writer and historian who served as literary adviser to the Nouvelles Litteraires from 1946-71. Remy's Nous sommes ainsi faits was published by Chavane in 1949.
