CHADWICK JAMES: (1891-1974) British physicist, Nobel Prize winner for Physics, 1935. Chadwick was head of the British team that worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. Fountain pen ink signature ('J. Chadwick') with his address ('Cambridge, England') and date, 3rd November (1952), in his hand on an oblong 12mo (17.5 x 6.5 cm) piece neatly excised from a page of a visitor's book. Also bearing three other signatures, including that of Chadwick's wife, Aileen, and with a further four signatures to the verso. VG
