MUSSOLINI BENITO: (1883-1945) Italian Fascist Dictator of World War II. A war date D.S., Mussolini, two pages, folio, Rome, 13th February 1942, in Italian. The typed document, bearing the printed heading Il Duce del Fascismo, Capo del Governo, relates to the rental of property from Elia Federici to be used as offices for the headquarters of the Commissioner for Migration and Colonisation in Rome, providing the address of the premises at Piazza Nicosia and stating that the offices will occupy the first, second, third, fourth and fifth floors of the building, along with two apartments, and that the rent will be 500,000 lira per annum, Mussolini decreeing that 'The above contract stipulated on 2nd September 1941 XIX m.836 of the archive for the rental of the aforementioned building for use by the offices of the Commissioner for Migration and Colonisation for the duration of nine years is approved, i.e. from 1st May 1940 until 30th April 1949 and for the annual fee of 500,000 lira, payable in advance quarterly installments falling on 1st May, 1st August, 1st November and 1st February of each year starting from the said date of 1st May 1940 XVIII' and also briefly stating how the expenditure will be accounted for in the budget of the Ministry of Finance.
