O'HARE EDWARD: (1914-1943) American Lieutenant Commander, a naval aviator of the United States Navy during World War II who became the Navy's first fighter ace of the war, and also the first naval aviator recipient of the Medal of Honor in World War II. An extremely rare pencil signature ('E H O'Hare') on an irregular neatly clipped 12mo card (approx. 11 x 7.5 cm), with three partial lines of text in ink, in an unidentified hand, above, 'for your success as a naval aviator - may all your wishes be fulfilled'. Autographs of O'Hare are extremely rare in any form as a result of his being killed in action at the young age of 29.
