DUCLAUX EMILE: (1840-1904) French microbiologist and chemist who collaborated with Louis Pasteur in the study of silkworm diseases. A.L.S., E Duclaux, one page, 8vo, Paris, 28th March 1896, to 'Monsieur le President', on the printed stationery of the Pasteur Institute, in French. Duclaux states that he has gratefully received the diploma attesting to the honour bestowed upon him by the Royal Italian Society of Hygiene, adding 'Je suis tres sensible a cet honneur, et je vous prie d'en remercier pour moi la societe que vous presidez si dignement' (Translation: 'I am very sensitive to this honour, and I ask you to thank on my behalf the society which you preside over so worthily'), further thanking his correspondent for having sent him some of their latest works, which he likes to have at hand.
