TOULOUSE-LAUTREC HENRI DE: (1864-1901) French Painter and Illustrator. A very fine A.L.S., `Yours, Harry´, signed in an amusing way in English, four pages, 8vo, n.p., Wednesday, n.d., to his mother 'Ma chere Maman´ ("My dear mum"), in French. I will send you the portrait of Rachon shortly. I had dinner the day before yesterday with Papa, Uncle Charles and his wife. I'm going to make you happy by telling you that papa (who was charming) bought a mare whose milk he drinks. He ate dairy and cherries… I think he has never been so pure. As for the question of money, he advanced me some very kindly and I can thus put everything in order honorably. I am also in talks for the sale of two bad works. You see that everything comes to a good point for those who wait for the right time…") Toulouse-Lautrec further makes an amusing comment, considering the habits at his time, saying `…avec une chaleur terrible qui me fait promener dans la rue en chemise… Bourges ayant gagné aux courses a acheté un appareil a douches dont je me sers continuellement et qui je crois m´aidera beaucoup a rester a Paris…´ (Translation: "…with a terrible heat which makes me walk in the street in my shirt… Bourges, having won at the races, bought a shower device which I use constantly and which I believe will help me a lot to stay in Paris…") Paper with a Vidalon Mills watermark.
