DELACROIX EUGENE: (1798-1863) French Romantic painter. A.L.S., Eug Delacroix, one page, 8vo, n.p., 17th January (1854), to a friend, in French. Delacroix announces 'Je desirerais bien que le prince Napoleon put voir mon travail avant le gros public: de lui en faire la demande directe cela me semble un peu hardi' (Translation: 'I would really like Prince Napoleon to be able to see my work before the general public: to make a direct request to him seems a bit bold to me') and continues 'Pouvez vous lui dire que je serais tres heureux de l'honneur qu'il me ferait dans cette circonstance? Dans ce cas vous serez assez bon pour lui dire aussi le peu de temps qui m'est laisse a cet egard' (Translation: 'Can you tell him that I would be very happy for the honour he would do me in this circumstance?
