Unfortunately one cannot dispute the fact that class and group interests frequently take precedence over the interests of the nation itself, and one observes the same supremacy of national goals over the vital interests of all humanity'; Federico Alvarez de Toledo (1875-1939) Argentine politician and ambassador; and other political figures and diplomats etc. including Alberto Costadellas (Bolivia), Caballero de Bedoya (Paraguay), Eugene Jacques Crepin (Bishop of Tralles 1926-42), Luc Dominique (Haiti), Baron Auguste-Rodolphe Lehman (Liberia) etc. Some light age wear, generally about VG, 10

 

The present statements were prepared for publication in the Pax Mundi book; an anthology of sentiments on peace published in Switzerland by the World League for Peace. Between 1925 and 1932 many notable persons from around the world were asked to comment on the prospects of world peace and the volume included contributions from Marie Curie, Guglielmo Marconi, Albert Einstein, Rabindranath Tagore and many others.
