George Bell & Sons were a London book publishing house established in 1839.
Crowley's letter was written from the Abbey of Thelema, a small house used as a temple and spiritual centre (as well as a type of magical school) in Sicily, which he had opened in 1920. The commune, which has been described as a type of 'anti-monastery', was designated by Crowley as 'Collegium ad Spiritum Sanctum', a College towards the Holy Spirit.
