LISZT FRANZ: (1811-1886) Hungarian composer and pianist of the Romantic period. Autograph envelope signed, with his initials FL, to the lower left corner, simply addressed in his hand Fraulein Scharnak, evidently originally delivered by hand. Some light overall creasing and a few tears, only very slightly affecting the text and signature, G
The recipient of the envelope, and its original contents (perhaps a payment?) is likely to have been the mezzo soprano Louise Scharnak who, on 3rd November 1883, accompanied by the pianist Alexander Siloti, sang at a concert in Weimar financed by Liszt
