GULLY JOHN: (1783-1863) English prize-fighting boxer, sportsman and politician. Signed Free Front envelope panel addressed in his hand to Edward Bouverie at Delapre Abbey in Northampton and dated London, 27th May 1833. Signed ('J Gully') to the lower left corner. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG
Edward Bouverie (1767-1858) High Sheriff of Northamptonshire who inherited Delapre Abbey from his father in 1810, subsequently improving and extending the estate to create a model farm and also investing in artworks and racehorses.
