On 30th May 1946 Ruth, the 'Sultan of Swat', was in attendance at the Parque Delta in Mexico to watch the baseball match between Azules de Veracruz and Alijadores de Tampico. At the invitation of Jorge Pasquel, then president of the Mexican Baseball League, Ruth was invited to give a batting exhibition on the pitch and achieved what has been unofficially recorded as the 715th home run in the player's history.
